A visit from the king
Year 5 had a fantastic Tudor day on Friday 26th November. In the morning, the children thoroughly enjoyed a workshop from one of King Henry VIII’s wives, Catherine Parr, learning about her family history and her position in King’s Henry’s court. They also met an armourer who shared his knowledge about life as a guard and soldier to the King in Tudor times.
In the afternoon, the children had a visit from King Henry VIII himself and found out more about his character, events in his life and his many wives. The children experienced Tudor music and dance and particularly enjoyed dressing up in Tudor costumes for the day. Their behaviour was exemplary and the actors from Living History Hatfield commented:
‘The contribution of the pupils was a delight and certainly made our day enjoyable. They are a credit to the school.’
