Bishop Douglass Tournament
Children from Years 4 and 5 have taken part in a 5-a-side football tournament.
As the sport season starts to draw to a close it's time to start thinking about next year's team and the Bishop Douglass tournament was a perfect opportunity to do this. We brought two teams: one boys and one girls and both teams were looking to use the opportunity to practise and start to gel as a team.
The boys' matches were very low on goals with most matches - with the incredibly small goals they had to defend - ending 0-0 or 1-0 . Pleasingly, the boys were the strongest team in each match they played despite the scorelines not always going the way they wanted them to. The team were able to try different positions and get used to the way each other played.
For the girls, many of them were inexperienced with only two playing last season and one playing outside of school. Pleasingly, however, it was great to see the high-level of improvement between each match. The girls were unbeaten and eventually drew the final 0-0 before losing on penalties. What a great achievement to go through the whole tournament without conceding a goal.
