Remembrance Assembly
In assemblies this week, the children learnt about Armistice Day. They learnt about the significance of 11th November as well as the history of the poppies that the children may see people wearing. Extracts from the school log books, that date back to 1918, were read to them. The log book entry on 11 November 1918 notes that the children gathered together to celebrate the signing of the Armistice.
Today the whole school marked the silence together in the school hall, just like they did in 1918, to remember those who lost their lives or were injured in war. Our brass instrument teacher, Mr Mason, played ‘The last Post’ in the playground. The children behaved respectfully during this gathering.
