Magistrates visit Year 6
It is important that children understand that law and order is important and the consequences of breaking the law. This week five magistrates, from Willesden Magistrate court, visited Y6. They led a really engaging and informative presentation about what magistrates are and what they do. There was a discussion about why we have rules and laws and what can happen if you break them. The children were shown photographs of what inside the courts looked like and how a trial would proceed. This opportunity enhances the work we do in school on British Values- democracy and justice. The children really enjoyed the experience and asked lots of interesting questions. Feedback from the magistrates was that they were very impressed with how the children and teachers engaged with the presentation and hoped that they would 'NOT' be seeing the children again!
